Academy play host to Lossie on opening day
Published: 13 June, 2007
WICK Academy will begin their 2007/08 campaign in the newly renamed Scot-Ads Scottish Highland Football League with a home game against Lossiemouth on Saturday, August 4.
Lossie finished second bottom last term, 14 points adrift of 11th-placed Academy, who won both fixtures between the clubs – 3-1 at home and 1-0 away. However, Lossie have been busy strengthening their squad and could well be tougher opposition this time.
The first Far North derby comes early in the season, with Academy taking on Brora Rangers at Harmsworth Park on August 25. The sides meet again at Dudgeon Park on the first Saturday after New Year.
League champions Keith open their defence of the title with a home match against Forres Mechanics, while Cove Rangers are the team handed an extra week of pre-season.
Dates have still to be confirmed for the early rounds of the North of Scotland Cup.
