One moment of magic seperates the two teams 07-Apr-2007
A solitary moment of magic from Shane Sutherland was all that separated the two teams on an afternoon where the fiery pitch was the winner as neither team got a grip of the proceedings.
The first effort of the game arrived when Davie Mowat advanced down the right and crossed the ball in to the back post where Richard Macadie shot over from 10 yards out.
At the other end Craig Morrison hit an ambitious overhead kick towards the goal from a Craig Masterton kick out but James More had time to readjust and take the bouncing ball comfortably.
The best opportunity of the half came when a free kick at the edge of the box was played forward by Craig Morrison to Kyle Stewart but from 12 yards his curling effort was parried clear by James More.
At the other end a brilliant turn from Richard Macadie created the space for a cross but the end result was an easy save for Craig Masterton as both teams seemed almost to settle for a half time stalemate.
Lossiemouth should have taken the lead on the hour mark when Darren Watson advanced to the edge of the area and drilled in a low shot which was eventually spilled towards sub Gordon Riddoch. With the goal at his mercy he somehow put it wide of the far post from a yard out.
The Coasters were made to pay for this miss just two minutes later when Gary Farquhar played a neat one two then fed Shane Sutherland who, just as he had done in the first meeting of the sides, turned his marker and drilled a low shot into the back of the net from the edge of the box.
Try as they might there was little Lossie were able to do to turn the game around as four games in seven days appeared to be taking a toll on their legs. Steven Rattray had the ball in the net but a whistle had already halted play with Steven Dixon adjudged to have been in an offside position, then Kyle Stewart scuffed a shot wide of the post from 20 yards.
With little of note at either end the game petered out ensuring the SS torpedo strike to sink Lossie.
