A FOOTBALL team from Thurso have beaten off competition from thousands of sides across the UK to qualify for a nationwide six-a-side tournament sponsored by lads' mag FHM.
Sharks FC, who compete in the Caithness Amateur Sevens Football League, will kick off their FHM O2 Cup challenge in Glasgow next week - cheered on by gorgeous girls from the magazine.
A total of 64 teams are competing in four regional heats for a place in the finals in London and a top prize of £5000.
Sharks, who are currently leading the second division of the local sevens league, are one of the 16 teams competing in the Scotland heat at Glasgow Green on Monday night.
They will be split into four groups of four with the winners of each group progressing to a knockout stages, where a place in the final and the chance to be crowned regional winners beckons.
Sharks, who will be known as Pathetic Sharks throughout the tournament, were entered into the competition by their captain Chris Sinclair.
He registered the Thurso team on the FHM website and was chosen from over 2500 other teams by an online vote.
Pathetic Sharks, who are believed to be the only side from the North of Scotland taking part in the nationwide competition, will tackle Sporting Lesbian, Sunday Night very *friendly* persons and Charmin Smarmin Barmen.
The team are raising money to cover their travelling costs through a sponsored penalty shoot-out.
