MacLeod IFA Highland Amateur Cup, preliminary round replay #########################################
Keiss 6 v Lairg Rovers 0 at Keiss
report from JOG Journal website
Keiss hit six without reply in cup replay Published: 02 May, 2007
KEISS on Saturday became the first side to progress in this year’s MacLeod IFA Highland Amateur Cup.
They had earned the right to host Lairg Rovers after coming back from 6-2 down to draw 6-6 in the only preliminary tie at the home of the East Sutherland league outfit.
There was no need for such a heroic recovery in the replay as Keiss rattled in six without reply.
They got an ideal start with a cracking goal created by Ben Taylor’s touchline run and cross and finished by Graham MacNab’s clinical first-time strike from eight yards.
Colin MacKenzie added an untidy second before Grant MacNab ran through to round the keeper and slot in the third before the interval.
MacKenzie’s second, when he netted after a shot came back off the crossbar, made it 4-0.
In view of the previous week’s experience, Keiss might still not have felt home and dry. But Rovers offered little threat throughout and never looked capable of mounting a comeback of any kind.
Icing was put on the victory with a late double by substitute James Ross.
The only downside for Keiss was the second-half red card for Andrew Banks for retaliation after being the victim of a crude tackle from a visiting player who was also given his marching orders.
Keiss now entertain John O’Groats in the first round on May 12.
