Sharks are seven-a-side cup kings after shoot-out success
SHARKS celebrated a penalty shoot-out victory over Thurso Comm in the champions' cup match between the first and second division winners in Caithness Amateur Sevens Football League.
Graham Robertson hit a fine hat-trick for Sharks, with Derek Richardson, Jocky Begg and Nicky Rosie on target for Comm as the game ended 3-3.
Dave Terrace saved a penalty as Sharks won 3-2 in the spot-kick decider, giving them the champions' cup to add to their second division title.
Robertson and Rosie both received man-of-the-match awards from Willie Mackay.
In the last league match of the season, Seaview finally broke their duck in the second division, beating Top Joe's 3-1.
Martin Sinclair, Gavin Shearer and Colin Macleod all scored for Seaview in the first half. Top Joe's did get a goal back in the second period but Seaview held on to claim their first win of the season.
The cup competition cancelled from last weekend has been rearranged for this Saturday (26th), weather permitting.
League official Ian Nicol said yesterday: "The committee would like to thank the council for their valiant efforts in trying to get the games to go ahead last Saturday but the snow was just too much."
The presentation will take place in Skinandi's nightclub, as originally planned.
